THROWING garbage in the trash bin and it ends up outside of that bin. Considering the one-inch distance between your hand and the bin when you were dumping that trash in the bin, how is it possible for it to end up outside of the bin? Phenomenon!

So, that proves basketball is not one of the sports you can indulge in. That’s why you’re building muscles at the gym, hoping someday you could watch an NBA game live in the US without huffing and puffing while climbing the steps of the arenas where those games are held. At least they’re not the Roman arenas where the hunting games featured lions.

At the gym, the game involves who gets to use the next available machine. Arriving early, say, at 4am, is a must if you don’t want your workout interrupted by the gym’s population.

For the knee, cycling is one of the best exercises. So, the stationary bikes are where my eyes are always focused the moment I arrive. Gotta move fast before anyone gets there first. Otherwise, I’d have to wait for hours? Not exactly. I think I’m the only one who uses the bike for an hour while writing this. Talk of hogging.

Zumba has been around since forever but it’s only now that live learned the meaning of Zin. I thought the gym’s sked has misspelled Zen. Zin means Zumba instructor. You’re welcome.

I asked one Zin how to address him: Zin or Coach? He replied, Bisag unsa.
But I call them all as Coach. Because the word reminds me of a couch potato, you know, that lazy lady I used to be. And in case you haven’t noticed, some of my favorite snacks then—French fries and potato chips—have potato as the main ingredient.

Now, my favorite snacks are vanilla cream latte or vanilla latte or Spanish latte, whichever the cafe has in its menu, and cheesecake. Oops! Erase erase. Let’s rephrase that. My favorite snacks are now…none. There’s no space for snacks in OMAD—one meal a day. But I can always indulge in high-carb goodies as my dessert for that OMAD. Oops!

Since I’m starting to sound like Britney Spears—“Oops, I did it again”—discipline is required to help me stick to OMAD and I may have to stay at the gym the whole day to help me stick to this lifestyle. Cycling while writing columns. Cycling while watching gym enthusiasts do their abs workout, boot camp, fit-punch, circuit training, metafit, tabata, and metafit/metapro. Cycling while choosing a menu for the OMAD.

I almost bought a stationary bike. But cycling all by my lonesome while reading a book or writing this column, plus the downtime if ever that bike will need repairs, inspired me to look for a gym instead.

This is the gym where grandparents, parents, and their children and grandchildren can enroll. I thought I’d be the oldest, but I think it’s the retired who has more time to exercise since they don’t have to rush to the office daily.
