In a bid to revolutionize support for Indigenous Peoples (IPs), Project Alima integrates three crucial government programs: the Government Internship Program (GIP), Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantage/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), and DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP). With a primary focus on IPs, this initiative aims to uplift their communities and ensure their active participation in the labor market.
Project Alima, while still in its proposal stage, endeavours to craft comprehensive strategies that effectively enhance the well-being of IPs, promoting their economic empowerment. Led by Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia, the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental has pledged steadfast support for Project Alima. Drawing on combined resources and efforts from various government agencies including TESDA, the Department of Agriculture, DepEd, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and PNP, the project seeks to provide holistic support to IP communities.
This commitment is outlined with the governor’s Paglaum Strategic Agenda focusing on Participatory and Consultative Governance, recognizing the urgent need to address the specific challenges faced by IPs in Misamis Oriental, while advancing towards their sustainable development and empowerment.
