“SHE replaced me with a lesbian.” This was how 34-year old Rolly Sales explained why he hacked and killed his common law wife in their house on Acacia St., Barangay Carmen, this city, on Tuesday.

Behind bars at the Maharlika headquarters of the city police, the billboard technician admitted to killing his partner and the mother of his two children Fe Libot, 34, at the height of their quarrel.

Libot succumbed to two hack wounds––one in the leg and the other in the torso––on the way to the JR Borja General Hospital. She was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

Police said it was a crime of passion, and Sales alleged that Libot was seeing a lesbian. “Dili nako madawat nga iya kung gipulihan og tomboy,” Sales said.

Police said Sales claimed that he just came home from his night shift, and faced an angry Libot. “Kapoy kaayo akong lawas sa dihang gikalitan lang ko niya og away sa akong pag-uli,” he told police investigators at the Carmen police station earlier.

Sales told the police he wanted to sleep but Libot followed him to their bedroom and continued nagging him. He said he asked his common law wife to give him space but she allegedly rushed to the kitchen, and took a bolo. Sales claimed Libot attacked him, and he defended himself.

“Akong nakuptan ang iyang kamot nga dunay sundang og sa dihang akong nabawi. Nasamdan siya sa paa tungod sa among panaglayog. Wala nako kabantay nga nahinaykan na hinoun nako og natigbasan sa abaga,” he said. The commotion was witnessed by their seven-year old and four-year old children.

But Sales said he has been holding back despite being told by their daughter that Libot was seeing a lesbian. Sales said he had confronted Libot about it but she allegedly told him that he no longer had any use as far as she was concerned. He said he resented that.

“Wala na kuno ko’y pulos nga pagka-bana kay maayo pa kuno ang uban kay dunay panahon sa iyaha. Ga-ipalayas na gani ko niya,” Sales said.

He said he regretted killing the woman he loved for 13 years.
