The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday said the delay in the release of cash grants is due to the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Oliver Inodeo, DSWD-10 spokesperson for the 4Ps, said the liability is not on the DSWD but on the government-owned bank which is supposed to give the beneficiaries their money on time.

Inodeo said Land Bank was not able to replenish LBC Express which is the service provider responsible for transporting the amount to localities where ATMs are not available.

Inodeo said Land Bank central office did not say why it could not replenish LBC Express. The affected scheduled pay-out is from Oct. 1-15 which is the 3rd period covering the months of May, June, and July compliance.

The total amount which is supposed to be paid out by Land Bank is more than P108 million.  This would affect some 41,032 families of over 260,000 beneficiaries of the program in the entire region. “Kato lang maapektuhan ang mga lugar nga walay ATM. Katong gadawat through ATM walay problema,” he said. Inodeo said they just received the information on the postponement from Land Bank the other day.

“Wala sila naghatag og definite nga schedule kung kanus-a sila maka pay out,” he said. “Bisan dili among kakulangon apan naghangyo ako sa pagsabot sa mga benepisyaryo sa ingon niini nga sitwasyon.” (alwen saliring)
