THE Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (Cepalco) yesterday denied challenging the National Power Corp.-Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (Psalm) to disclose to the public Mindanao’s real power situation.

Cepalco spokesperson Marilyn Chavez said neither the local power distributor nor any of its executives dared Napocor-Psalm.

Chavez said Ralph Paguio, Cepalco senior vice president, merely replied to a question on how 24 hours of continuous rains due to a tropical depression that weakened into a low pressure area improved the water elevation of Mindanao’s hydroelectric power sources.

The receding water elevations of Lake Lanao and Pulangi River due to the dry spell has been blamed for the worsened power situation in Mindanao.

Chavez quoted Paguio as replying: “Mas maayo siguro nga ang NPC-Psalm ang atong ipatubag ana nga question.”
