MAYOR Oscar Moreno celebrated his legal victory on Monday night by hearing mass at the St. Augustine Catherdal before treating his staff, supporters, and lawyers to three gallons of ice cream in his office yesterday.

On Monday, the Court of Appeals 2nd Division granted his petition for a preliminary injunction against the implementation of the dismissal order issued by the ombudsman in connection with a grave misconduct case filed by former Taglimao barangay chairman William Guialani.

The writ is seen to prevent a likely attempt by Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas to assume as mayor today, a day after the lapse of a 60-day temporary restraining order issued late last year by the CA.

Moreno was accompanied by members of his Liberal Party ticket in hearing a “thanksgiving mass” at the cathedral at high noon.

He then led them back to his office where he had three gallons of mango-, vanilla- and melon-flavored ice cream served to his partymates, lawyers, staff, and supporters.

Moreno said he was thankful to CA justices who ruled to grant him the writ of preliminary injunction.

He received a copy of the CA resolution at around 6 pm on Monday. In high spirits, the mayor then went to a gym to play basketball.
