ARCHBISHOP Antonio Ledesma has invited all candidates in the city for were for a “spiritual recollection” at the St. Augustine Cathedral Church from 8:30 am to 4 pm today.

According Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) coordinator and archdiocese social action director Carl Cabaraban, those invited were Mayor Oscar Moreno, Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, ex-mayor Vicente Emano and members of their tickets, and all other candidates.

Cabaraban said Ledesma wanted the politicians to take part in the religious activity in order to remind them of their “moral obligations” and so they would receive “spiritual nourishment.”

He confirmed that both Moreno and Rodriguez have given their word that they would participate in the religious gathering. Emano has yet to confirm his attendance.

“We will have a whole day recollection, and we hope to end a with a signing of a covenant based on the version of the Catholic Church,” Cabaraban said.

Cabaraban said that after the recollection, the candidates would be asked by the archdiocese to sign a commitment to uphold  “clean, honest, accurate, meaningful, and peaceful” elections. (nitz arancon)
