BUTUAN City — Caraga cops have a lot to beam about their ‘One time, big time’ operations here in the region.

From previously 18 arrested in the first its report, a total number of 24 persons were arrested while from 25 firearms seized it now reached to 34 firearms in the National Police’s ‘One time, big time’ operations in simultaneous raids conducted in two cities and seven municipalities here in Caraga Region on Saturday, March 26.

Armed with 19 search warrants, police operatives from different PNP units in Caraga Region swooped down respective residences of the suspects located in the towns of Rosario, Esperanza, San Francisco, Bunawan, Talacogon, Carrascal, and Cantilan; and in the cities of Bayugan and Butuan.

A total of 10 light weapons, 21 short arms, two air guns, and one grenade launcher were seized by the police based on the record of the Regional Operations and Plans Division.

Among the light weapons seized were M16 rifles, M14 rifle, US Carbine rifles while some of the short arms recovered were .357 revolvers, shotguns, and .45 pistols.

The latest raid was conducted in Barangay Ong Yiu, Butuan City around 9:45 pm that resulted in the arrest of Jaber M. Amerol and confiscation of Colt .45 pistol.

The 24 arrested suspects are now facing charges on violations of RA No. 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) and the gun ban of the Commission on Elections.

Peusca said the arrests of 24 suspects and confiscation of 34 assorted firearms most of them high powered firearms and hundred of live bullets or ammunitions was the result of the conduct of Police Regional Office 13 operatives ‘One time, big time’ simultaneous operations against illegal drugs personalities, most wanted persons, loose firearms and all other form of crimes.
