THE chief executive of a South Korean city has sent a message to reelected Mayor Oscar Moreno, expressing optimism that his leadership would improve the lives of Cagayanons.

Jeong Hyunbok, the mayor of Gwangyang City, also said he was looking forward to strengthening ties between his city and Cagayan de Oro.

“On behalf of Gwangyang, I cordially congratulate you on your reelection in the Philippines local election… I believe your leadership and commitment will create an economical, political, social and cultural environment, and will make the people of Cagayan de Oro happy and comfortable,” reads part of Jeong’s May 11 letter to Moreno.

Jeong noted the similarities in the industrial structure of Gwangyang and Cagayan de Oro, and expressed gladness that the two cities have promoted mutual understanding and friendship.

“I anticipate that we will further boost bilateral cooperation in various fields, including the economy, culture and education, and pave the way for joint development,” said Jeong.
