TRAVELING to another country with four seasons can be torture to the Pinoy who now has to google the best attire for that country on the days he’s there. Otherwise, sweat will be pouring down his spine as he tries to look cool in a trench coat in a 26-degree–Celsius!–weather.

For the hilaw New Yorker who has been there, done that with seasons, if he can feel his nose amidst the cccccold weather, then, it’s just another day in paradise. Ho-hum. The nose is the key.

That’s the New Yorker who wakes up and googles the weather daily, to make sure he’s bringing the right accessories with him to work: jacket, sweater, umbrella? Be prepared, like a Girl Scout.

If only Pinas has four seasons, too, then there’s no need to adjust to other countries’ brrrrr weather. But it’s spring, almost summer, therefore, brrrrr could be felt only at night despite the four seasons.

Travel is a tricky thing, though. If your mind is stuck with work, that mind may not be able to savor the scenery that you’ve paid for through the tour guide who’s now mumbling words you could hardly understand. Not because he’s speaking another language but because your mind is drifting to work that’s supposed to be far far away.

Hey, the main reason you’re in another country is to get away from it all. But still, you can’t get away, you keep calling the office, emailing them, texting them, sending them messages. O my gas. Stop already.

Better stay in Pinas then if it’s impossible for your mind to leave work. Besides, it’s now starting to be cccccold here in Pinas, waking up in the morning nowadays makes you wonder if it’s Christmas already. Most probably, though, it’s La Niña, the opposite of El Niño.

You can definitely feel the difference: hot last week, cold this week. Like a relationship. Haha.

The mangos, too, have noticed the difference. Those that have survived the hottest of summers have shrunk in size, and the mango sales have shrunk, too. But at least they survived. The question is, are they as sweet as past harvests?

If ever the mangos are now too small to savor, mix it with your Four Seasons drink then, as you wish the weather will be friendlier for the next mango season.
