THE National Anti-Poverty Commission  (NAPC), and the Committee on Youth Participation yesterday urged young citizens to register with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) so they could take part in the Oct. 31 barangay and youth elections.

Kenneth Lee Piloton, chairperson of the Committee on Youth Participation, said their call is for citizens, from 15 to 30 years, to take part in the Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

The call was made in time for the first day of the registration yesterday. Applicants have until July 30 to register.

“SK is a unique platform in the Philippines  where the youth can actively engage in governance at the barangay level,” Piloton said.

The barangay and SK election  registration  is ongoing at the 2nd floor of Robinson’s department store, at Limketkai Center. The registration center is open from 8 am to 5 pm.

Acting city elections officer Gina Luna Sabio said those registering are given priority  numbers so that the process would be smooth and orderly. (nitz arancon)
