Some 1,700 farmers and indigenous people from Bukidnon and members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) has managed to get 16 sacks of rice from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD 10) in Upper Balulang after making the demand since last Friday evening.

Barangay Kawayan, Municipality Quezon of Bukidnon councilor Rebecca Pacquiao said they are now claiming from the DSWD 10 the earlier promised sacks of rice to the affected drought victims in their area.

Pacquiao said they were initially given 400 sacks of the rice in July through the National Food Authority (NFA) facilitated by DSWD 10.

During their protest rally, they had brought along with them 10 ten-wheelers of truck that could load the possible supply of rice allocated for them. Other claimants were coming from the municipality of Kitaotao and San Fernando.
