“The more donations, the better,” said PRO 10 regional police community relations division head Supt. James Espinosa as the seminars and rehabilitation efforts are currently held daily at Camp Alagar for Oplan Tokhang responders.

Espinosa said they are expecting more Tokhang responders in the coming days following the government’s announcements of helping them start new and better lives.

Espinosa expressed apprehension of fund shortage if without the support from various stakeholders particularly the local government unit, as the number of responders is increasing every day.

“We call for more support. It will be our advocacy to jumpstart the program. We need the momentum to continue,” Espinosa said.

He lauded the current leadership of the PNP in northern Mindanao for coming up of the rehabilitation program in partnership with the Pathway to Recovery Foundation, Inc., a non-government organization focusing on rehab programs.

“It is because the government cannot solely attend to rehabilitating thousands of (Tokhang) responders. So, it was a good idea for RD (regional director) to call on stakeholders to help the government through this program,” he added.

Camp Alagar, located in Barangay Lapasan in Cagayan de Oro, is currently rehabilitating a number of Tokhang responders from nearby villages such as Barangays 22, 26, 36, Gusa, Camaman-an and Lapasan. The program started on Nov. 16.
