Officials of the Police Regional Office (Pro 10) and the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) declared the past few days during the Christmas celebration has been generally peaceful since only minimal crime incidents happened.

Pro 10 regional director Chief Supt. Agripino Javier said there were no reported high-value crimes committed in all provincial, municipal and city during the yuletide celebration.

“No incidents of indiscriminate firing and firecracker victims had been brought to general hospitals. This is made after our public and police has been vigilant in fighting against all forms of criminalities,” he said.

Javier said this development would be final when the no firecrackers or total banning of firecrackers next year.

Javier said the entire police community is still in full alert despite declaration of ceasefire President Rodrigo Duterte declared and the 48th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

Javier said security plan is always followed and implemented by police field officers on any crime incidents that would possibly took place.

For his part, 4ID spokesman Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez also declared northern Mindanao was generally peaceful since not a single fire was shot within its rank inside their area of responsibility.

“We are happy considering that all of our area of responsibilities was generally peaceful during Christmas celebration,” he said.

Martinez said surrendering during Christmas season is considered part of their effort in extending the hand of peace to rebel forces in the area.

He reiterated that under the 4ID within the northern Mindanao and Caraga region, the full division will always welcome and accept surrendering individuals or groups coming from the rebel forces.

He said 2016 has been good for the division with less rebel encounter that they experienced and more surrendered individuals have been taking cared off.
