BUTUAN City — Plans to have zero injuries due firecrackers in Caraga Region failed despite the all out information campaign of the Department of Health here.

In its report, DOH 13 said from Dec. 21, 2016 to Jan. 4, 2017, there have been 20 reported cases of firecrackerelated injuries –– majority of whom were from 6 to 10 year-olds.

DOH official report through DOH-Caraga regional information officer Romilyn Torralba reported that of total 20 injured due firecrackers, 16 are males and four females with 12 total injured aging 6-10 years old, 11 to 15 years old 3, 16 to 20 years old 2, 21 to 25 years old 2 and one from 25 years old to 40.

Agusan del Sur has most number of injured with 7, followed by province of Surigao del Norte with 6 reported injuries; and Agusan del Norte only one as for the five total provinces in Caraga Region.

For the cities, Butuan City, Bayugan City and Surigao City have two injured each. Injuries are all treated as Out Patient in hospitals where they were brought, the report concludes.
