BUTUAN City — Using old mobile phones as digital weighing scales for a suspected shabu transaction, a mechanic and a woman were arrested Saturday in a buy-bust operation at a lodging house in this city located near Langihan Market.

Chief Insp. Rowena Martinez, deputy head Intelligence Section of the Butuan City Police identified those arrested as Ariel Reposo, 45, married, mechanic working at the Department of Public Works and Highways in  Tanay, Rizal Depot but is on vacation and a resident of Tandag City, Surigao del Sur and Nikki Borja, 38, married, and a  resident of Butuan City.

Martinez said Butuan Police have been monitoring the suspects after making the city their stopover and “drop” area for suspected shabu transactions.

Confiscated in the buy -bust were 120 grams of suspected high-grade shabu estimated to worth P1.4 million according to Dangerous Drugs Board, a .45 cal pistol with live ammunition seized from the male suspect, converted mobile phones into didgital weighing scale, and marked money of P1,000.

Charges have been filed against the two suspects.

When interviewed by media, Reposo admitted selling shabu but is just new in the trade.

Reposo admitted he is working as mechanic at the DPWH depot in Tanay, Rizal and claimed he is on leave as an on-call mechanic.

The two are now detained at the Butuan city police office here.
