“I appreciate the collaborative effort of RTA officials and other sectors in the traffic industry. But they only presented the short and medium plan on how to solve the traffic congestions in the city streets from 2017 to 2019,” she said.

Dahino said in the RTA short and medium plan, they only focused on six activities like upgrading, installation, rationalization, establishment of motorcycle lane, establishment of traffic violation, and widening of existing roads of the city.

However, she said RTA officials only presented only the system to solve the traffic problem but there were no inclusion of the people as the ones ultimately responsible for the implementation of all presented traffic systems.

“People are not included on the proposed traffic plan. How can we implement the system without the people who will implement the systems. People around the city is still the most important part of the systems. There should be a weekly or monthly activities to teach the people especially the drivers,” she said.

Dahino claimed that drivers have no discipline and are ignorant of basic road courtesy.

“By giving back the basics to include the people is the use of media personalities and way of broadcasting and newspapering for a (wider) information campaign on traffic rules. Atong i-educate ang katawhan,” she said.

She said RTA officials should educate the people through radio, television, and newspaper with regard to traffic rules and road courtesy.

“We need nga coordinated ang matag-usa,” she added.
