Koronadal City — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR 12) recently conducted a Consultation forum for its 2018 budget proposal with the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at the agency’s function hall here.

More or less 75 delegates from various CSOs from four provinces namely, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and North Cotabato actively participated during the event.

DENR Regional Director Reynulfo A. Juan welcomed the participants and discussed the department’s framework in the region and for the year 2018.

The early consultation is in line with the Department of Budget (DBM) program, with the revision and reprogramming of activities for the 2017 budget implementation due to the new administration under Sec. Gina Lopez whereas new priorities are given importance that would coincide on the budget consultation for next year, Juan elaborated.

Juan said the three major final outcomes that need to be observed as follows; Ecosystems Policy Services, Ecosystems Management Services and Ecosystems Regulation Services, but there is a possibility that these may change in 2018.

National Greening Program was highlighted stating its continuity until 2028, as a manifestation of country’s commitment towards climate change, where the country is one of the state-signatories of the Climate Change Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70 percent by 2020.
