If Moreno receives the city council’s green light, some 3,500 city hall officials and workers would get a raise this year.

In a May 2 letter sent to Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy, Moreno asked members of the city’s legislature to approve the release of P50.620 million for the second tranche compensation adjustments.

If approved, the salaries would be increased effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Moreno said the request is in line with Local Budget Circular 113-2017 by the Department of Budget and Management, and Executive Order 201 dated Feb. 19, 2016 approved by the then president Benigno Aquino.

Based on Moreno’s request, the budget for the salary increases would be sourced from the lump sum appropriation for the second tranche of the salary standardization in city hall’s 2017 budget, covering payments for personnel services compensation differentials. These would include salaries and wages, mid-year and year-end bonuses, and mandatory premium contributions.
