The repealed provision in the ordinance mandates giving traffic enforcers a cut in the fines they sanction on traffice violators.

The vice mayor’s request to Calizo, chair of the committee on roads and traffic management, stems from a letter request from Roads and Traffic Administration overseer Atty. Jose Edgardo Uy to City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

In the letter, Uy suggested to Moreno to restore the sharing provision which was repealed by the 17th City Council on March 23, 2015 through the approval of Ordinance No. 12931-2015.

“The sharing provision was intended to prevent traffic aides from succumbing to temptations of bribery on the road and will make their wage equitable considering the kind of job that traffic aides do on the road,” Uy said in his letter.

Uy said should the sharing ordinance be restored, it would give traffic enforcers and other employees of RTA additional remuneration who are currently receiving a salary grade III or P10,800 per month only.
