ROTARY International District 3870 Governor Rosalinda Deleste’s term took a very interesting turn when she began travelling to visit the 45 Rotary clubs under her. On Aug. 19, together with her team, Deleste started her month and a half club visits in Zone 4 which is composed of 10 clubs. She first visited the Rotary Club of Claveria on the 19th and the following day, the 20th of August, she visited the Rotary Club of Gingoog. From there she travelled to the south, to the north, to the east and to the west of Cagayan de Oro City where she is based, braving heavy rains, dangerous mudslides, and long road trips, just to reach all the 45 Clubs under District 3870.

In these visits the clubs were given the opportunity to present to the district governor their plans and programs and to talk about club concerns. These meetings were very helpful to the clubs as well as to the governor as it gives both parties the chance to work together to achieve district and club goals.

For the month of October, Deleste and her team visited RC East CDO, RC South CDO, RC Opol, RC Metro CDO, RC CDO, RC CdO Premier, and the last club visited is her very own chartered club, the Rotary Club of Kalayaan CdO. To cap her club visits to Zone 1, the Governor’s Address will be held in Malberry Suites today.

The visits were just the beginning of a very memorable and meaningful journey. She is now eager and very much ready to focus on reaching the district goals she has set for Rotary Year 2017-2018.

To start with, Deleste will be monitoring the district’s annual giving which she hopes will reach 150,000 dollars or even more this Rotary Year. In her club visits and in her governor’s addresses, she has called on the different clubs to give generously. She reminded everyone present during her talks that the more is given, the more people are helped through the Rotary Foundation’s humanitarian projects.

During her term, Deleste is also determined to increase membership this year from 1,321 members to 1,500 members. She has reminded the members of the 45 Rotary clubs to invite good people to be part of their Clubs. “The more good people are engaged in good causes, the better the communities will be,” she said in one of her addresses.

Another goal set by Deleste is the improvement of Rotary’s public image and to accomplish this she has encouraged all the Rotarians of District 3870 to join the Polio Walk scheduled on Oct. 21, 2017.

Deleste wants all the clubs to reach their greatest potentials so she has encouraged all clubs to work for the presidential citation. She’s also excited for next year’s Rotary International Convention in Toronto, Canada, and she has been very positive in encouraging the Rotarians to plan ahead so that many can go and join.

Together with RI District 3870 CDO Discon chair Gilda Go, Deleste is looking forward to hosting the CDO District Conference on May 11 and 12, 2018 in Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City. Together with the District 3870 CdO Discon Host Club RC Kalayaan CdO, Deleste invites everyone; “To CDO, you go!” (Advertorial by Maria Christina Itchon-Concepcion of Rotary Club of Kalayaan CDO)
