Iligan City — Authorities have launched a search and rescue operation for  an elderly woman who has been missing since Friday after crossing a rampaging river here.

As of press time, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, under Patrick Nuñez are still searching for the elderly woman.

Initial investigations by Police Station 3 with SPO3 Raul Buletic, deputy station commander revealed that the woman was identified as Zosima Oro, 67, a farmer, and resident of Purok 3, Bulas, Barangay Ubaldo Laya, this city.

Witnesses said she was carried away by flash floods which occurred Friday afternoon.

It was learned that two minors saw her. They were identified as Alexander and Daniel who are also residents of the place.

The witnesses said she was tending to her corn fields and had crossed the river earlier to go to her fields. When she returned, the river had swelled due to the sudden rains.
