A SURPRISE inspection on two warehouses for commercial rice yesterday revealed that there is no shortage and no hoarding of commercial rice in the city.

CPCC vice-chairman Atty. Edgardo Uy told reporters during a press conference that they have seen at least 74,000 bags of commercial rice stocks inside the two bodegas in Barangay Gusa alone.

“We saw enough supply of rice to only two bodegas out of 30 bodegas targeted for surprise inspection. This means that we still have enough supply of rice for the market to be distributed,” he said.

Uy initial impression with enough supply of rice means that consuming public can be assured that there is no hoarding and ready for distribution.

Gani ang ingon sa mga tag-iya nga hinay gani ang palit unya daghan sila og supply. Ang atong tuyo is to verify complaints that there were rice shortage mao nga mahal which is wrong tungod kay makapalit pa man og commercial rice nga barato,” he explained.

The two bodegas visited were the RAC Commercial and Ocean Rice Trading, both located in barangay Gusa, this city.

“The outflow is gamay sa ilang in-flow of supply kay mopagawas lamang sila og at least 1,500 bags every week and then daghan kaayo sila og supply nga naka-stock in Cagayan de Oro alone,” Uy also said.

He said the prices are normal with constant replenishment of supply of rice and they are also expecting more supplies coming-in from importation from other Asian countries in the coming months.

Uy added that they will continue conducting surprise inspections in the city, as there are at least 30 warehouses that hold commercial rice.
