AUTHORITIES yesterday pressed charges against a woman who killed her own baby in Manticao, Misamis Oriental over the weekend.
Charged with “parricide” before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office was 35-year old Salvacion Kimanhan of Purok 1, Barangay Tuod, Manticao town.
Kimanhan, who hails from Bicol, is believed to have a mental health problem.
Manticao police chief Senior Insp. Marlo Lanioso said Kimanhan clobbered her one-year old daughter with a piece of steel and then crushed her head with a rock at around 10 am Saturday.
“Gidala niya ang iyang anak sa kasagingan… namatay gyud untawon ang bata,” said Lansioso.
Lanioso said initial investigation showed that Kimanhan killed the baby after being told that her husband Jayboy planned to bring them to Marawi City.
The woman confessed to killing her daughter and told investigators she did it to spare her child of the prospects of suffering in Marawi.
The baby would be given a decent burial at the Manticao public cemetery today.
The husband Jayboy meanwhile said he didn’t have nay plan to move to Marawi with his family. “Dili man trino-od nga moadto kami sa Marawi kay mag-unsa man mi didto?”
