An alliance of motorela drivers and operators are up in arms with city hall’s new policy in business permit and licensing division where they are required to sign an oath for “reegistration and re-numbering.”

In a statement yesterday, Sonny Hinosolango, treasurer of Macasandig Operators and Drivers Association, said they were forced to sign an oath of undertaking without consulting them first.

Hinosolango, who is also the lead convener of Alyansa-MP3 (Makatarunganong Pletehan alang sa Pamilya ug Pasahero), added that city hall failed to conduct a consultation to the affected motorela drivers and operators considering that this new policy will affect their daily earnings.

Ako mismo isip operator sa motorela, ug sa akong pagpangutana sa ubang driver ug operator, wala kini gipasabot atol sa pagpapirma. Lahi man ang seminar sa consultation. Buot ba pasabot sayon-sayunon namig dakpon ani puhon kay nakapirma man kami niini,” Hinosolango lamented.

Under the new oath of undertaking, he said number 1 and 3 which states that they shall only operate on a specific route as stated in the reegistration and re-numbering certificate. Number 3 also states that they will not be allowed to transcend boundaries at any time and circumstances

The alliance has gained support from the Solidarity of Transport in Region X (Starex-Piston) regarding their sentiments they aired during the start of the reegistration and re-numbering of all motorela units in the city.

Dako kining hagit sa mga motorela driver ug operator nga dili magpakahilom, maghiusa ug mobarug alang sa inyong katungod nga mabuhi. Wala paman gani gitagad ang inyong hangyo gitubag na hinuon kamog dugang perwisyo,” Ringo Lago, Secretary General sa Starex-Piston said in his solidarity statement.
