POLICE arrested a man who allegedly raped his 14-year-old neighbor thrice in El Salvador City since last year.
Authorities quickly pressed charges against the suspect, 54-year-old Dante Palasan, for child abuse. The suspect has been placed under detention in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.
PO2 Ephi Valle said police pounced on Palasan at his house in Barangay Molugan after a complaint was made by the family of the alleged victim.
The teenager was allegedly abused at least thrice: in September 2017, this June and this July.
In all three occasions, Palasan allegedly forced himself into the teenager inside a shared toilet in Molugan.
Police said the alleged victim told investigators she had opted to keep the abuse to herself because the suspect threatened to kill her if she did.
Valle said the abuse was made known after the victim’s brother caught Palasan allegedly abusing his sister inside the toilet.
“Mao tong gisultian dayon sa maong igsoon ang iyang mama sa iyang nakita, ug gipadakop dayon ang suspetsado,” Valle said.
Police said Palasan confessed to the crime during investigation but gave this excuse: it happened because he was drunk.
Palasan, it was learned, is separated from his wife and has no children.
