Lanao del Norte Gov. Imelda Dimaporo led officials in groundbreaking the P2-billion Liangan Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Pagayawan, this town, on Tuesday.

The partnership agreement have been sealed by Dimaporo, Bacolod Mayor Joselito Miquiabas  and  Josue Lapitan, president and chief executive officer of Liangan Power Corp..

“The long wait is over,” said Dimaporo who called the hydroelectric power plant project and a road concreting project are major components of the Metro Iligan Agro-Industrial Project  in Linamon town.

Dimaporo said road project, with funds from the Japan Bank for  International Cooperation, would connect Linamon and Matungao, Balo-i, and Tagoloan and Bacolod to Munai and  to Madalum in Lanao del Sur.

Rep. Mohammad Khalid Dimaporo of the province’s 1st District said the projects were envisaged when his father Abdullah was the province’s governor. The elder Dimaporo is now the representative of the province’s 2nd District.

The younger Dimaporo said the power plant would likely reduce the cost of power in Lanao del Norte.
