MAYOR Oscar Moreno yesterday tasked Councilor Romeo Calizo to organize a meeting between city hall and police officials in an effort to assess the city’s peace and order situation, and so they could agree on what security measures to take and step up.

Moreno is in Davao City, attending a peace and order council meeting at presstime. He is scheduled to return today.

Moreno said he asked Calizo to organize the meeting after the councilor called on city and police officials to hold a “brainstorming” sessions in an effort to level up security measures in the city following last week’s broad daylight gun attacks.

On Tuesday, motorcycleiding gunmen ambushed a Camp Alagar official, Supt. Michael John Deloso, while he was driving his van near the capitol. He remains under intensive care at presstime.

On Friday, motorcycleiding gunmen shot Barangay 3 Jonathan Borja while he was driving his sports utility vehicle in Nazareth. A bullet grazed his forehead.

Moreno said he agrees with Calizo, chairman of the city council’s police and public safety committee, about the need for city hall and police officials to jointly map out plans on exactly what security measures to take. He said he plans to join that meeting.

Moreno earlier expressed alarm over the two gun attacks. He said authorities should do something to prevent a repeat of the broad daylight gun attacks in the city.
