Cagayan de Oro City’s premier literary event, CDO Poetry Night paid homage to the now global reality of travel, migration, and displacement, here recently.

Themed “panagbiya, panag-abot” (leavings, arrivals), this installment was held at the Sky Garden of SM CDO Downtown Premier. Here, local writers performed poetry and passages of prose about the inevitable hellos and farewells that come as a result of our dynamic, ever-changing world.

During the event, Australia-based Kagayanon KM Levis held the local launch of “The Girl Between Light and Dark” (Anvil, 2018), the long-awaited sequel to “The Girl Between Two Worlds” (Anvil, 2016). As well, the fifth issue of the Bulawan Literary Journal of Northern Mindanao, themed “Departures & Destinations” was also launched.

The organization established CDO Poetry Night in February 2014 as a quarterly event to serve as a venue for local writers to share their works and realize the social relevance of literature in today’s society. The next installment of CDO Poetry Night will be in February 2019. (nagmac)
