THE city government is set to implement the Flood Risk Management Project for Cagayan de Oro River (FRIMP-CDOR) in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways, Unified Project Management Office-Flood Control Management Cluster (UPMO-FCMC).

Supporting this, the 18th City Council during its regular session this week presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the DPWH, UPMO-FCMC for the purpose.

The project includes the creation of the Resettlement Implementation Committee, which shall help in addressing the needs of Affected Persons with the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Guided by the DPWH Resettlement Policy, the parties have agreed to work together to ensure that the Resettlement Action Plan for the Flood Risk Management of the city is implemented as planned and to set up the CDO Resettlement Implementation Committee for FRIMP-CDOR.

The DPWH, in accordance with its existing development policies, requires that in the design and implementation of the project, all efforts must be ensured so that adverse social and physical impacts are avoided, minimized or mitigated and  affected persons are provided with sufficient compensation and assistance for lost assets and project stakeholders are consulted regarding the project design and operation, among others.
