DAVAO City — The Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) said it would field around a thousand volunteers during the conduct of midterm polls today.
Jimmy-Lou Dela Vega, the executive director of DACS told reporters that their volunteers are now 90 percent ready for today’s polls.
“We are prepared and we are trying to address last minute needs of our volunteers like their identification cards, appointment papers, and t-shirts, and establishing communication networks,” Dela Vega said.
DACS leads in the championing of an election that is Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful, and Peaceful or E-CHAMP advocacy.
Along with the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting and other church volunteering ministries, Dela Vega said he is “confident the operations will be in place.”
Dela Vega added that DAC volunteers would perform and serve poll watchers, voters’ assistants, news gatherers and reporters, prayer warriors and mobile communications group on the day of election.
Other Catholic schools in the city also facilitated pre-election activities such as the Vote for Truth Campaign of the Holy Cross of Davao College and the Blue Vote Campaign by the Ateneo de Davao University.
DACS also vowed to provide news information gathered from the field on the day of the election.
“Right now, we are monitoring the final testing and sealing of the vote counting machines which is a national activity,” Dela Vega said.
In Davao region, Dela Vega said DACS has stationed its volunteers in selected voting centers to witness the final testing and sealing of the counting machines. (davaotoday.com)
