COUNCILOR Joyleen Mercedes Balaba, chair of the City Council committee on social services, is calling on the public to support the 41st Celebration of National Persons with Disabilities Prevention and Rehabilitation Week on July 17 to 23, this year.

Balaba said there are several activities organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Department through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office for the said celebration.

With the theme, “Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabali-kat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong may Kapansa-nan,” Balaba said activities that lined up are the Pageant show; Sportsfest, wherein the PWDs are expected to play basketball using wheelchair; and Quiz Disability, among others.

Meanwhile, Balaba is now reviewing for an enactment of an ordinance granting social pension to all members of PWDs of the city.
