Misamis Oriental Gov. Bambi Emano calls for the utilization of education that will involve all sectors of the community as a tool for fire prevention even as he expressed his whole hearted support to the activities of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for the success of the month-long celebration of “Fire Prevention Month.”

A contingent from the province, led by the Governor and mainly composed of the staff of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, participated in the opening parade, Wednesday.

“While the discovery of fire is considered a very important milestone in human civilization, it cannot be denied that fire too has become a menace and very serious threat to our continuing progress,” Gov. Emano declared.

Going to this year’s theme of the celebration, the Governor declared that fighting and putting out accidental fires is as important as getting more aware on how to be pro-active in the control of fire.

“While fighting fire accidents is a primary task of the BFP, we need everyone in the society to fight ignorance and promote awareness on the proper control of fire rather than fire controlling us,” Gov. Emano declared.

As this developed, Gov. Emano also ordered the PDRRMO to closely coordinate with the BFP in order to establish and promote pro-active activities in the prevention of disastrous fire incidents, including  the identification of proper sites for the establishment of more fire stations in the barangays and towns of the province.
