The raids were carried out by the City Anti-illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group, Butuan City Police Safety Company, and the Butuan City Police Office, according to city police director Supt. Romy Palgue.

Raided were suspected drug dens, and houses of drug suspects across the city.

Palgue said the operations were based on search warrants issued by local courts against 10 drug suspects.

Police arrested eight suspects, and seized nearly half a kilo of suspected shabu.

Palque said a “big fish” from Marawi City who lives in Barangay Limaha evaded law enforcers when police searched his home.

But there, police seized suspected shabu and some P1.639 million in cash, four caliber .45 pistols, an AR-15 rifle and ammunition, digital weighing scales and other drug paraphernalia.

At another house owned by Rowena Dales in Barangay San Ignacio,  police seized suspected shabu amounting to P11,918.

Three “visitors,” one of them a Philhealth Caraga worker, were placed under investigation, and subsequently charged before the local prosecutor’s office.
