POLICE yesterday arrested a “motor-sikad” driver after he was accused of raping a teenager in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental last week.
Authorities identified the suspect as 32-year-old Eddie Boy Gabi of Barangay Baluarte, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
Gabi strongly denied , denied the allegation that he raped a 16-year-old teenager.
He said he and the alleged victim were friends, and she supposedly confided to him her problem with her boyfriend from Cagayan de Oro.
“Nag-estoryaha ra man mi sa ilalum sa acacia nga kahoy mahitungod sa iyang uyab. Wala ko man na hilabti,” Gabi said.
The suspect claimed it was the teenager who asked him for a “joy ride” apparently so that she would forget about her problem.
Gabi said he brought the teenager to a place surrounded by acacia trees near the Phividec Industrial Estate office.
He said they only talked for less than 30 minutes, and then he brought the alleged victim to the same place where he picked her up.
Gabi said he was surprised to see police officers who came to arrest him in his house.
