DPWH-10 reaches 82.27% rate; it’s beyond the target, says Nayve

Northern Mindanao public works and highways has achieved an 82.27 percent accomplishment rate, higher by 0.27 percent from the target set by the national office in the implementation of projects funded under its 2017 infrastructure program.

“The region has reached 82.27 percent which is already beyond the target set by the central office,” said DPWH-10 Construction division Chief Engr. Virgie Nayve.

Nayve said the region was allotted by P36,683,564,000.00 in 2017 with 897 number of projects.

“Of the 897 projects, 540 are already completed, 353 are ongoing and four projects are not yet started,” said Nayve.

The highest share was given to DPWH 2nd District of Misamis Occidental with P1.2 billion for 65 projects and 45 are completed according to Nayve.

She also said the two districts of Cagayan de Oro city with P289.6 million (1st District) and P346.5 million (2nd District) have posted 88.23 percent and 85.03 percent accomplishment rates for 36 projects (1st District) and 39 projects (2nd District) with 32 and 26 projects already completed respectively.

Cagayan de Oro’s 2nd District Engr. Anactacio Marundan said his office already sent notices for contractors who have committed negative slippage.

DPWH 2nd District   has posted the lowest slippage among other districts in the region with only .37 percent.

“We already directed contractors to submit a detailed “catch up” program on a two weeks basis to eliminate the slippage,” Marundan said.

In the two Districts of Misamis Oriental with a fund share of P747.09 million (1st District) and P912.2 million (2nd District) generated both 98.39 percent completion rates.

Meantime, DPWH 1st District in Bukidnon was apportioned with P578.9 million funds for 50 projects.

Towards end of the 2017, Nayve said 35 projects have been completed and 15 projects are ongoing with an accomplishment rate of 92.16 percent.

Nayve attributed the significant accomplishment of the region to the strong leadership of regional director Virgilio Eduarte who assumed March of 2017 and to collective efforts of individual district offices personnel and various project contractors that did well in the implementation of the projects.

However, based on the status of the construction for 2017 infrastructure program, the DPWH-10 has still posted a 0.75 slippage.

“This 0.75 slippage rate can’t affect the total accomplishment of the region’s infrastructure program. It’s still manageable,” Nayve said.

She said that due to bad weather conditions and acquisition of road right of way are the major causes of the slippage.
