FOUR workers were injured after the two columns of a construction site collapsed while they were installing pre-fabricated trusses yesterday afternoon.

The four were installing pre-fabricated trusses at around 2 pm to what would be a new building of San Miguel Corp. in Sta. Ana, Tagoloan town in Misamis Oriental.

The injured construction workers were identified as Ronnie Jimenez, Fernando Polison, Giovanni Espida, and Alexander Maata. All were contracted workers of Gerona Construction Co..

The construction company is based in Davao City and has been contracted to build San Miguel Corp.’s plant. It has been touted to be the corporation’s second-biggest plant in Mindanao.

Tagoloan police chief Senior Insp. Allan Oniana said investigators were sent to the area to look into the accident.

Oniana said the Municipal Disaster Risk Management Office deployed a rescue team that rushed the four injured workers to Polymedic Hospital in Tagoloan.

He said the workers were conscious when they were brought to the hospital. (Nitz Arancon)
