THE fans coordinator of newly crowned Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Pia Wurtzbach said a councilor who expressed fears that the beauty queen would be disqualified in this year’s search for Miss Universe based his pronouncements on a hoax.

Jan Paasa, a promoter who serves as Wurtzbach’s fans organizer and coordinator here, said Councilor Dante Pajo quoted from an erroneous post on a Facebook account when he expressed his worry during the city council’s session on Monday.

During the council’s regular session, Pajo said he feared that Wurtzbach would end up being disqualified from the Miss Universe 2015 search. He said organizers supposedly issued an advisory that the candidates from Japan and the Philippines were already disqualified because of their mixed blood.

Pajo said he learned this from the Miss Universe’s Facebook page.

The 25-year old Wurtzbach, who represented Cagayan de Oro in the Binibining Pilipinas search, is a German Filipino who was born in Germany. She lived and went to school in this city before moving to Metro Manila to pursue a modeling and acting career.

“Duha ka nasud sa Asia, Mr. Chairman, nga ma-o ang Japan ug Pilipinas ang gi-disqualified sa pag-apil sa Miss Universe 2015 kay ang mga contestant dili pure nga Japanese ug Pilipino,” Pajo said.

Paasa said the information that Pajo read was a “lie,” and that the alleged disinformation on Facebook was the handiwork of Wurtzbach’s critics.

“Kanang mga tawo nga nag post sa bakak nga info sa Facebook, mga tawo kana nga dili makadawat sa kada-ogan ni Pia sa Bb. Pilipinas, kay ang candidate nga gisuportahan anang mga tawhana, gipildi man ni Pia,” Paasa said.

Paasa also maintained that Wurtzbach is from Cagayan de Oro, lived at Golden Village in Carmen, and went to school at Kong Hua and Corpus Christi here.

He said he was coordinating with city hall’s promotions chief Aileen San Juan in preparation for Wurtzbach’s homecoming.

City hall said it was organizing a reception in honor of Wurtzbach who represented the city in the Binibining Pilipinas search.

Paasa said Wurtzbach would likely visit the city this week or next week.
