HE is not perfect at all.

As the presidential elections is barely two months now, things have worsened, candidates have turned magicians instead of supposedly staying who they are.

I am from Davao City, I lived here and I was born in this city. Who should I vote this coming election? That, I am not sure yet.

I have witnessed how the city progressed and have seen and experienced the worst of it. Honestly, the most logical decision I should do as what I have heard from my family and friends is to vote for the person who is also from the city I came from—Duterte.

The problem is, it is not so logical for me, not appealing and out of my considerations.

Why?

Because the stories they have crafted in the social media to support his candidacy are not all true.

Yes, Duterte may have been living in a simple apartment. But what about one of his sons? Has he not checked on it? Where did his son get all his funds for a mansion?

And oh, he is strongly against drug abuse. But once upon a time… Again, what about one of his sons?

That he solved the peace and order situation of the city? How? By increasing the number of extrajudicial killings in the city?

Every time I pass by Bankerohan, particularly, UCCP Haran, I am reminded how kind and supportive he is to the militant groups who are now in custody of the Lumads coming from different nearby municipalities.

In the same place, I can see Lumads inside the compound of Haran but did Duterte do anything for them? I think none, because they are still there.

How can I support someone who also allegedly supports questionable groups and disrespectful members of the New Peoples’ Army?

Now, who could tell me he is indeed capable of running and straightening this crooked system of governance our country?

Has he really straightened or cleaned up Davao? Has he?

Well, he is not perfect at all, and so is this city. — Joshua Clyde Cimero, joshuacime@gmail.com
