CAN the people believe that Filipino leaders, more particularly President Duterte and the secretary of the country’s foreign affairs, were not immediately informed that a Chinese military vessel intentionally and deliberate rammed and literally ran over a fishing boat with 22 Filipino fishermen who were adrift at the West Philippine Sea on Sunday night?

I am certain that whether this question is asked of Duterte supporters or of Duterte haters, their answer would be that, it would be difficult to accept that the President and the Department of Foreign Affairs were not immediately informed of this encounter at sea that nearly killed the fishermen. I am certain, too, that many would be of the belief that both the President and the DFA, as well as the other senior leaders of the Duterte government, were informed right away of this explosive incident.

The question: why then was there no reaction from the President even as late as June 13, 2019? Was the President merely trying to walk a tightrope here to avoid derailing the on-going cordial relationship between his government and China? Or, he simply was very much aware in his heart that there is going to be no benefit anyway even if we complained against what the Chinese military vessel did, since the Chinese are undeniably far more superior militarily than us?

Whatever be the reason for the seeming lack of immediate reactions from Filipino leaders over the “running over” by a Chinese military vessel of a fishing boat manned by 22 Filipino fishermen on the night of June 9, 2019 at the West Philippine Sea, I am compelled once more to recall that the Bible in its many verses has many warnings about the infliction of suffering and abuse by foreigners against many people. The warnings appear to be happening to many Filipinos even now.

From doctrinal expositions by the Simbahang Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo, it has been prophesied that many will be made to undergo hardships and difficulties, as well as abuse, in the hands of foreigners which, in our case, obviously include the Chinese. Foreigners were predicted to make life more difficult and dangerous for people in their own land, and more so in countries where people have to go to earn their living.

Deuteronomy 28:33-36, 43-44, and 48-52 contain the descriptions of the abuses that foreigners will heap on many people right in their countries. On the other hand, foreigners’ abusing foreign citizens in their own countries have been written about in Deuteronomy 28:32 and 37. Now, if we study these verses carefully, we will not fail to see, as the and KNK has been expounding, that these abuses by foreigners would not be simple abuses but ones that could even endanger lives of their victims.

Why are these abuses and heavy-handed behavior being displayed by foreigners, even against Filipinos now, even here in our own soil, and also in other countries where our countrymen have been forced to go for work? Why does it appear that God seems to be allowing these abuses to happen, even if Filipinos are known to be predominantly Christian believers?

The answer is simple. While God is indeed the God of love and mercy to those who, like us Filipinos, profess their faith in Him, He is also a just God–a God who acts with justice all the time. In God’s great love and mercy and omnipotence, He put up rules and regulations as to how man can accept or enjoy His love and mercy, and even His blessings, guidance, and protection.

According to the Word of God, the Bible, man is to receive God’s love and prosperity if only they would listen to, and obey, His Word. To those who will not listen to Him nor obey His commands, or who would display mere half-hearted obedience, however, it is His curses they will suffer. With what is happening to Filipinos nowadays, there is no doubt as to why many of us are experiencing God’s curses instead!
