POLICE arrested an officer from the Macasandig police who went AWOL during a buy-bust operation at Zone 7, Sitio Macanhan in Barangay Carmen on Wednesday.
Chief Insp. Mario Mantala of the City Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force, identified the suspect as PO1 John Jenard Paylan, 26. Mantala said Paylan no longer reported for work after he was found positive for drug use last year.
Police also arrested Rogelio Claro, 40, who owns the raided house. Claro denied any involvement in illegal activities.
Two sachets of suspected shabu were seized during the raid, police said.
In another development, police released a man they arrested earlier in connection with the shooting death of a “habal-habal” driver at Sitio Balongis, Balulang, this city, Sunday dawn.
Insp. Gil Agpaoa, chief of the Carmen police, said they released Jerome Pimentel after he tested negative result for powder burns.
Agpaoa said a witness who came forward also failed to identify Pimentel as the triggerman.
