Padayon Pilipino .

ONE of the most formidable local political parties that has withstood the test of time is the most feared political organization (both in the national and local level) since its inception in the mid-’80s.

Battle scarred, weary, but not vanquished, the Padayon Pilipino political party (acronym PADAYN) has overcome political ordeals against all odds.

For almost three decades, Padayon Pilipino has fought and lived up to its tradition as the political party of the less fortunate and the underprivileged.

Twice as much in many a political battle, the Padayon Pilipino made a clean sweep during local elections. For this reason, it has always been the obsession of any budding politician to be nominated as a candidate under the Padayon Pilipino political party.

It is, however, unfortunate that after reaching the pinnacle of political success, some were blinded by greed and avarice that they turned tyrants against the political party that catapulted them to political power.

For instance, once a consistent political loser, Oscar Moreno won a seat in Congress in Misamis Oriental only when he joined the Padayon Pilipino. Moreno also won the gubernatorial post in Misamis Oriental as the Padayon Pilipino bet. Now, Moreno is fighting the political party that once nurtured him.

Cagayan de Oro City’s Rolando Uy became a congressman, not when he became barangay captain of Carmen, as the Padayon Pilipino bet. Today, Uy wants to dominate the local politics after his son was elected vice mayor and his wife as barangay captain of Carmen.

Uy, erstwhile Padayon Pilipino member, has turned his back to become one of the enemies of the political party of the poor. Can anyone trust the Uys in politics?

Former vice governor Julio Uy of Misamis Oriental became vice governor of Moreno under the wings of the Padayon Pilipino.

Julio Uy was one of the lieutenants of the Padayon Pilipino. Julio Uy turned tyrant after the political party did not support his congressional bid in the 2nd District of Misamis Oriental.

Furious for not getting his dream post, Julio Uy ran twice against then Bambi Emano, the Padayon Pilipino bet, for Congress at that time. Twice, Julio Uy suffered humiliating defeat against Bambi Emano.

Now, Julio Uy, the standard bearer of the National Unity Party (NUP), is running for governor in Misamis Oriental against the incumbent Gov. Bambi Emano.

(By the way, Julio Uy’s NUP is also the political party of the ill-starred Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog who was accused as an alleged drug lord.)

This early, there are bold predictions that thrice, Julio Uy will suffer the political death blow in the hands of Bambi Emano.

Anyway, today, March 29, starts the official campaign period for the local candidates of the midterm election in May this year. The local campaign period runs until May 11, 2019.

For the benefit of the readers, here is the list (including the numbers corresponding to their names on the ballots) of the Padayon Pilipino candidates in Misamis Oriental and the coalition Padayon Pilipino and Centrist Democratic Party in Cagayan De Oro City.

The Commissions on Elections (Comelec) has also approved, en banc, the accreditation of the “Ako Padayon Pilipino” party list of the Padayon Pilipino political party. “Ako Padayon Pilipino” is # 152 in the Comelec list of the approved party lists in the coming midterm election this year.

Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano was equally happy following the accreditation of the party list group “Ako Padayon Pilipino.”

Emano said that for many years, the Padayon Pilipino political party, an accredited regional political party founded by former Cagayan de Oro Mayor Vicente Emano, dreamed of having a “party list” representative to Congress.

The “Ako Padayon Pilipino” party list would be the voice of the country’s electric cooperatives in Congress. The party list representative would serve as the watchdog of the interest of the cooperative members in the country, Emano said.

He said that the Padayon Pilipino would never waiver its affirmed tradition as the guardian of the interest of the people.

Emano said that the Padayon Pilipino, as a political party, derived its strength from the popular support of the people at all times.
