THE elder brother of former city administrator Hilario Roy Raagas over the weekend said his family was not interested in pressing charges against Mayor Oscar Moreno over his decision to sack the official last week.

Moreno terminated the services of Raagas a day after the city hall official went to Rep. Rufus Rodriguez’s home in Nazareth for his birthday celebration that took place hours after the congressman announced on air his mayoral bid.

Lawyer Rey Raagas, “Amo nalang kana nga ipalabay kay wala na man poy kawilihan si Roy nga iya pang balikan sa city hall.”
The elder Raagas is the president of the local chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).

The former city administrator earlier said he was consulting his lawyers but his elder brother opined that it would be difficult to force the issue because the position of city administrator is “co-terminus,” and depended on a mayor’s trust and confidence. Moreno cited his loss of trust and confidence on the former city administrator in his letter of termination.

Besides, the elder Raagas said, his brother has already committed to help in the mayoral campaign of Rep. Rodriguez. “Kon dilin siya mokandidato, motabang na lamang siya sa kampanya ni Congressman Rodriguez,” he said.

Raagas once served as a member of the city council. He was also city administrator when lawyer Pablo Magtajas was mayor of the city. (nitz arancon)
