Authorities said the teacher, Mary Salvaña of the Manolo Fortich National High School in Bukidnon, was riding a motorcycle driven by her husband when they slammed against a container van because the road was slippery. Salvaña was crushed to death by the rear tire of a truck.

PO1 Rodnie Salindo of Tagoloan police said investigators were still looking into the incident although witnesses have stated that it was the motorcycle that hit the truck.

The husband Juniel Salvaña, who suffered a cut on his left elbow, said, “Disgrasya gyud to. Nadigyas ang akong motor.”

His wife was thrown off into the inner part of the truck driven by Gilbert Crisostomo, 43, of Barangay Gusa, this city. The truck is owned by businessman Valentin Llanarez of Gusa.

Crisostomo surrendered to the police.

Crisostomo said, “Hinay ra man akong dagan pasulod sa pantalan. Nabantayan nako kusog kaayo ilang dagan unya naglisod na siya og break.”

He said it was already too late when he stepped on the break.

Crisostomo has been working as a truck driver for 15 years, and he said it was the first time that he met an accident.
