BUTUAN City — Two suspected drug personalities were killed yesterday morning by police in a buy-bust operation in Purok 5, Barangay Bitoon, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, official report from Police Regional Office 13 information office reads.

Initial investigation report from the Hinatuan Police Station shows that as the raiding team rushed towards the target house but the suspects fired at them prompting the authorities to retaliate.

The operatives recovered two .38 revolver, eight live ammunition, two sachet of suspected shabu with estimated weight 0.1545 gram and street value of P1,500, a brown bag containing with seven clips with 41 live ammunition of Garand, an improvised air gun, and 14 pieces marbles used as ammunition.

Also found in the crime scene were one used bullet and seven pieces cartridge case from .9mm. caliber pistol.

Chief Supt. Felix stressed that the police are serious in the war against illegal drugs and further warned drug personalities to stop their illegal activities.

According to the PRO 13 report, based on the record of the Regional Operations and Plans Division, the Hinatuan shooting incident brings to 14 persons killed with 277 persons arrested and P39, 946, 037.20 or nearly P40 million worth of illegal drugs have been confiscated since the implementation of Project Double Barrel from July 1 to Aug. 16 in the region.
