THE water supply in the city and Opol town in Misamis Oriental dropped again to 40 million liters a day on Tuesday as a result of a scheduled repair of a pump in Baungon, Bukidnon.

The Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. (Cobi) was supposed to complete the repair and increase the supply back to 60 million liters a day starting at 1 pm.

“Wala kuno mahuman ang repairs,” said COWD chairman Eduardo Montalvan. But he said the water supply was expected to be restored last night.

Ladelle Sagrado, COWD spokesperson, said the water supply dropped because Cobi had to make some emergency repairs and replace a bearing of one of its raw water pumps.

COWD general manager Bienvenido Batar Jr. said Cobi uses the pump to siphon off water from the Bobonawan River to its water treatment plant in Baungong town.

Sagrado said the duration of the repair reduced the water supply delivery from 2,500 cubic meters to 1,700 cubic meters per hour.

The delivery reduction resulted in temporary water service interruption or low pressure in COWD’s west service area, especially in elevated portions and multi-story buildings.
