TO ensure increase in farm productivity as well as farmers’ income, the Department of Agriculture (DA-10) grants the city government thru the City Agriculture Office various farm equipment and post-harvest facilities.

During the regular session this week presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy, the City Council enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the DA-10 for the purpose.

Under the agreement, the DA-10 shall evaluate and validate the proposed project of the city, shall turn-over the goods to the city as grant scheme upon compliance of all the required documents. It shall monitor the activities of the beneficiary, including the operation and maintenance of the project.

The DA-10 shall also provide guidelines in the implementation of the different interventions as Annex B for livestock program and Annex C for rice, corn, HVCC, and OA program, among others.

For its part, the city shall secure all legal documents as needed by the project and shall have full accountability to any problem or issue arising to it.

It shall orient the recipient in the operations, maintenance, and implementing guidelines of the project, among others.

The agreement was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on agriculture and fisheries and on laws and rules respectively chaired by Councilors Annie Daba and Ian Mark Nacaya. (sp)
