A CHURCH-LED grassroots formation inspired by Archbishop Antonio Ledesma will convene here today as they reiterate their advocacy for a more involved constituency in the city.
The advocacy group “Manag Silingan Ta Movement” will meet this afternoon at the Patrick Cronin Hall, St. Augustine Cathedral Compound, this city.
“We have made the first few steps in making a more dynamic and participatory city government. And we shall pursue it further,” the group’s invitation letter reads in part.
The invitation’s signatories include the movement’s main convenor Mitos Ortigas, Gising Barangay Movement’s Manny Valdehueza Jr., Interfaith Forum convenor Bishop Jollieh Petallo, and Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Ledesma.
The movement aims to further its cause by riding on its successes following the midterm elections in 2013.
“In 2013, we made a choice to support individuals whom we believed could best lead us in rebuilding the city after the disasters that hit us. Not only were we concerned with rehabilitating communities, but also of our spirits as a people and as a community,” the movement’s statement reads in part.
