During the forum, Councilor Marivic Co-Pilar, chairperson of the Urban Poor and Housing and Human Settlement Committee of Quezon City Council gave a background on the institutionalization and its legal basis, sourcing of funds and strategies and City Urban Development Legislative Agenda of Quezon City.

In an interview, Ermin Pimentel, consultant of the city’s Shelter and Housing program, said housing is one of the priorities of the city government.

He said this is in line with the intention to provide decent houses to all city residents, especially the informal settlers.

He said the creation of the Department of Housing in the city will pave the way for this.

Acting Mayor Uy expressed support for such a development, adding that it will boost efforts of the city to address the needs of the city’s poor.

The holding of the legislative forum is an offshoot of the Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA) drafting session held recently wherein city officials discussed priority projects of the city for the next three years. (sp)
