DIGOS CITY – A still unidentified motorcycle thief was killed by elements of the City Special Anti-Organized Crime Group (CSOG) after a brief chase with local police over the weekend.

Supt. April Mark Young, Digos City police chief in a phone interview said investigators is still verifying the identity of the suspect.

Young said the black Honda Wave motorcycle was stolen from the garage of Louien de la Cruz Arguelles, 34, at his residence in Quirino Sta. Ana Street, Purok Madasigon, in Barangay Tres de Mayo, Digos City between 1:00 to 3:00 a.m. on Friday.

The police, Young said, immediately established a blocking force after the carnapping incident was flash alarmed to the authorities that resulted to a brief chase between the responding policemen and the fleeing suspect.

“When he was cornered along Mabini Street at about 4 a.m., the suspect reportedly drew a handgun prompting the police to shot him in the process,” Young said.

Responding policemen recovered the stolen motorcycle at the crime scene including a .45 caliber pistol with 7 live ammunitions inside its magazine, and inside the cartridge case of the handgun.

A plastic sachet believed to be shabu was also recovered from the suspect’s body.
